The Sanchez Family

28 Mar

Around the 1830s, General Jose Ygnacio Ronquillo was given a sizable land grant at La Junta, Chihuahua MX.  One of the conditions was that land  be farmed.

Due to constant Indian incursions, Ronquillo ceded that land to Hipolito Acosta.  I have been unable to link Hipolito with any of the Acostas in my database.

General Ronquillo had a daughter named Trinidad.  Trinidad married  Teodoro Sanchez.  One of their daughters, Pabla, married Estanislao Lujan.

Estanislao Lujan is the nephew of my great-grandfather, Hilario; hence, my primas were pleasantly surprised that they can boast that General Ronquillo is their great-great-grandfather.

Teodoro and Trinidad Sanchez produced many children, thereby extending the La Junta Tribe.

Ronquillo also acquired land in south Ojinaga in 1832 from a retired mulato commander from Presidio del Norte named Marcelo Calderon, which he named Hacienda La Purisima Concepcion de Tapacolmes. This land today is known as El Mulato.
